Rodger Rees

Port Director/CEO, Port of Galveston, Texas

Rodger E. Rees officially joined the Port of Galveston as Port Director/CEO on January 15, 2018. The Port of Galveston is a public agency, an “Enterprise Utility” of the City of Galveston, functioning as a “Landlord Port” with nearly 100 employees, total capital assets of $149,793 million and currently generating approximately $43.5 million in operating revenue. The Port of Galveston is one of Texas’ major deep water seaports and is the 4th busiest cruise ship home-port in North America. Mr. Rees is responsible for the successful overall management of the Port including engineering and facilities, operations and Port Police, all administrative functions, business development and growth, strategic marketing, finance and the operations of the Port’s cruise terminals and maritime facilities. 

Mr. Rees is an accomplished Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of executive management experience and formerly served as the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer for Port Canaveral (Canaveral Port Authority), which is the world’s second busiest cruise port.  In this executive role, he was responsible for the management and safeguarding of the Port’s financial assets as well as all financial and financing functions of the port.

Mr. Rees is a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant and has completed the Certified Port Executive Program.
